Insulin growth factor 1 increases risk for heart disease

The somatomedin C also called the insulin growth factor is a type of protein found in the body and encoded by a gene of IGF1. It is also called a factor of sulfation and its effects are also called as non-suppressible insulin activity in the 1970s. It is a hormone which contains the similar structure of the insulin molecules. It is the hormone which plays important role in the childhood growth and continues having the anabolic effects in adult too. This synthetic analog of the IGF 1 is even used for treating the growth failure. You must also know that IGF 1 consists of around 70 amino acids in the single chain with 3 intramolecular disulfide bridges.

Increase risk of heart problems:

IGF-1 called as somatomedin C is primarily produced by the liver and preferring them artificially increases the risk for heart disease. The production gets stimulated by the growth hormone and can also be retarded for the malnutrition, lack of GH receptors and even insensitivity of growth hormone. Around 98 percent of the IGF-1 is bound to six binding proteins. The IGF 1 also binds to the IGFB-3 in 1:1 ratio. It is regulated by insulin completely. It is also produced throughout the whole life. The higher rate of its production also occurs during the spurt of pubertal growth.

The protein intake also increases the IGF-1 levels in all humans and independent of total calories consumed. Some factors cause variation in levels of growth hormone and IGF-1 brings the solution for many problems which include the genetic makeup, insulin levels and time of day, stress levels, exercise status, body mass index, disease states and more. But consuming them will increases risk for heart disease. Similarly, FDA has even linked to the testosterone therapy to a higher risk of blood clots in mainly male patients and with existing conditions as polycythemia. The patients with the polycythemia produce the increased red blood cells which put them at the higher risk of blood clot and the risk of pulmonary embolism.

Abnormal conditions:

The polycythemia is a condition when a person is having the high red blood cells count and which is considered abnormal. Such a condition is found commonly in all athletes types but presents in the endurance athletes. This is caused by increased demands that put on a body of oxygen to get transferred to muscles. This also increases production of the red blood cells since they are transported mechanism for the oxygen throughout the body. The protein at the center of red blood cells is even called as hemoglobin and this is what the oxygen binds to for being carried to tissues that need oxygen.

This also means the higher hemoglobin and which is a synonym for the high red blood cell. All such things result from the intense training which is undertaken on the daily basis so that the red blood cells carry easily oxygen to the muscle during exercise.
